MORPHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF PEARLITE THROUGH METALLOGRAPHY

Abstract

Metallography has revealed the presence of hot-forged hypoeutectoid steels in artifacts dating back over two thousand years. In doing so, they demonstrate the evolution of pearlite's visual characteristics. These ancient pearlite crystals don't have the same properties as the uniform, modern hypo-eutectoid steels. The pearlitic form maintains thermal equilibrium for an extended period of time.
